The once spectacular Monmouth Beach Clubhouse Hotel — situated around the Beach Road, River Avenue and Club Circle area –- emerged from the original late-1700s farmhouse built by the Wardell family (who first settled the area in the 1660s). In the late-1800s as “Monmouth Beach” became an exclusive seashore getaway for the wealthy, the massive hotel was at the center of the action.
